Rut # - Painting

Forgot to post this one. Probably mostly because I hate it. But hey, it was a good experience anyway (mostly I hate acrylics, I'm fine with oils, but they don't dry fast enough).

Finding 8 - Marcus Christensen

Here's a funny one.

Nothing like using Hitler for humorous purposes. He'd probably hate it.

Finding 8- Brooke Holt

Love Nike. This says just do it, without saying just do it.

Also, this isn't an ad, but I love this shirt and would totally buy it if it was the state of California.

Rut 6 - Ashley Boehme

Wow, guys.  Painting feels really good.  I've always wanted to be good but never taken the time to actually learn.  I can totally see myself sitting down and doing one of these a day.  It's a really relaxing process; time passed super fast while I was doing it.

Just like we talked about in class, ideas are a work in progress.  You keep pushing and pushing an idea until it's perfect.  I think a couple parts of the painting are pretty interesting.  There are mistakes, but certain ideas have potential.  I can take those ideas and try to use them more effectively next time.

Finding- Game of Thrones

This is an ad that Game of Thrones ran this week in the New York Times that I thought was pretty cool. It was obvious enough to get everyone's attention while still letting them read the newspaper

finding #8 - Brittany Funk

I love Nike! and this commercial.

Finding New Music

I love finding new music. And when I do, it gets stuck in my head for a few days. There's nothing quite like one song on repeat for a whole day. It turns into a theme song.

Finding #8 - Austen Allred

The Oreo advertising department has been killing it lately
Find #8 - Brittan Weber

coolest kid on the block.

I Liked this branding/packaging....

and this is creative....

Rut #6- Brittan Weber

Painting. I love the idea of it and was inspired by what we talked about in class today. I really want to go buy some more art supplies and just paint without the end result in mind. The painting I did for the activity did not feel like a creative outlet for me, but rather a frustrating experience because in my mind my idea looked great and then the outcome was amateur and not a sincere expression. From now on I am going to let go of wanting perfection, paint without an end result in mind and see what the outcome is. Also, funny story, between class and work today i went to the library for a minute to pass time. When I got to work realized I had left my painting by the chair I sat in. Hopefully someone enjoys free art! And appreciates my developing artistic skills hahaha

Sorry I took this picture out of a book I was looking through so hopefully you can see it okay. I thought this was so funny and the perfect way to describe 'fast.' Also, the simplicity of the ad is appealing.

Find 8 - Ashley Boehme

How do you advertise a beer glass shaped like a boot?  I guess... like this.

Finding 8 - Mckay Robertson - Grey Poupon

Youtube showed me this ad and i couldve skipped it but i loved it so i watched the whole thing.  in fact i liked this ad better than the video that i went to youtube to watch! hahaha

Finding 8 - Kevin Johnson

So hopefully no one has already posted this....but I am a big fan of Disney's Paperman short, which also just won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short film.  Definitely my favorite non-Pixar Disney film of recent memory.  I really like the limited use of color and the music for it is just perfect.

Rut #6- Brooke Holt

Here's my painting! I tried to get more creative, but then you couldn't tell what I was painting, so here's my purple mountains! I felt like a fake as I painted cause I don't know what I'm doing. I always wished I could paint, but as you can tell it's still just a dream.

Rut #6 - Brittany Funk

So I didn't have a lot to work with because I really despise painting, therefore didn't have a lot of paint hah. I love to draw and LOVE throwing on the pottery wheel...painting not so much. I think I dislike it because paint is a little harder to control and I am low key OCD and like every line to be perfect...Overall this was an interesting experience. I learned that I am really critical of my stuff and often want to quit before finishing. I have so many unfinished drawings/paintings just chilling in my portfolios. For this, I wanted to do something that I could put in my room that would look cool with the other things I have. I am not a huge fan of how this turned out, but it's all good. I think it would have been better if I planned what I was gonna do instead of just going with it.

April Baker Rut #6

I haven't really taken art since middle school, and I don't think that I've gotten much better since then, but for some reason for my painting I decided to do my sister. I think it turned out ok. It doesn't particularly look like my sister but, it does look like a person kind of, so I'll take what I can get.

Find it #ican'tremember - Steven Stucki

Subaru Commercial

When the dog is playing the guitar at 0:15...oh my gosh. SO funny.

Rut #6 - ART- Steven Stucki

Art will most certainly change the world. Can't say it's quite changed my world personally, however, it's something I really admire in others. I hope to heaven that I can one day draw, but for now it's just a fun activity for me. That's what this assignment was...a fun activity. It was stressful at first to get my creative juices flowing but once I decided I'd just paint the easiest and most conceded thing, a self portrait, the bristles kissed that canvas like a warm breeze at dusk.

Find It #8-Darby Miller

I thought this was so funny!

Rut #6-Darby Miller

So, I didn't have any paint...so I used my nail polish! It was an interesting experience! Especially because I only had two colors so I had to get creative on how to make different shades. I had to figure out how to control the thickness of the nail polish to make lighter and darker highlights and things. It was really interesting and fun! I left my camera at my parent's house so I can't put a picture up here, but it turned out alright!

Finding 8 Evan Coles

http://street-hands.blogspot.com.es/p/gallery.html

Love it. I love street art.

Rut 6 Evan Coles

I love this class because it gives me a reason to do the things that I love to do. I felt wonderful doing this. I was excited to do a form of art that I have never done before; stenciling. I've been watching films like exit through the gift shop and I felt inspired to do some street art. And because it is black history month this is what I came up with.

Finding 7-Quin

Imagine coming across this on your way to school. So awesome.

Quin's Painting Rut

I painted a puddle with a tree growing clouds out of it's branches. I painted it on the top of a lid from one of my storage boxes. That way when I move again I can take the painting with me. I got crazy in the zone while I was working on this. Totally focused, not paying any attention to anything else. I was blasting some electronic lounge music and it was like being on a different planet. Definitely going to go to that place more often now.

Finding #8-Michelle Monson

http://youtu.be/t535BjVmXq8

This commercial is HILARIOUS!!!  It is so funny and it communicates the message it is trying to get across clearly, but there is suspension!!!

Rut #6-Michelle Monson

I decided to paint a picture of Portland.  There are so many bridges and rivers in Portland, so I figured why not paint a picture of that.  That is where I served my mission too.  Keep Portland Weird.  I learned during this exercise, that I have a hard time with painting.  Remember, I am the girl that knows the art of cartoons, not of 3D architectural drawings.  It felt good to paint and it always feels good to do these Rut exercises.

Rut 6 - Marcus Christensen, Beauty and the Beastly Beast

I watched this movie on Friday and in the most manly masculine way, I'll say that this movie is SO good! I love me some Disney movies, and I forgot how good this one is.

So I thought I'd hit two birds with one stone, so on Saturday my date and I painted. We painted something for each other, and Beauty and the Beast was her favorite Disney movie, so I painted this for her. I've always liked this poster and design style, so it was very very fun for me.

She liked it too, so that's always a plus!

Finding #7 Allie Rae Treharne-Free fonts!

So I love typography, and the other day I stumbled upon this:

Above is the link to 25 free fonts. The fonts aren't super wacky or edgy, but they may be useful for some copy writing or other kinds of lettering that you want to be subtle yet unique. All the fonts are really easy to download and I had a fun time playing with all of them this weekend.

Enjoy! :)
