Rock and Roll Rut- Quin S

Originally I wanted to write some funny lyrics and make it into tight rap with serious snaps--Beastie Boys style. When I got into the zone with it though, it all came out pretty serious. In thinking about the process of creating these lyrics, I guess what I learned is that there are all sorts of things "in" us, happy, sad, serious, funny. It's just a matter of how much we pull that stuff out.

From Wausau

A city called Wausau contained
My ambition for years not yet made
There we slept, shadows cast in chains
By day in words our faith conveyed

Yearning for an interaction
Wanting some real attraction
We wait, it’s work, but we wait.
We wait, it’s work, but we wait.

My feet hit the ground
My soul pounding into my soles
I morphed heartbreak into profound
Even to speak I gave up controls

Yearning for an embrace
Wanting to fill my own space
We wait, it’s work, but we wait.
We wait, it’s work, but we wait.

A medicine could not have healed
Our blistered heels and throbbing pride
Only years to past would reveal
The heart still yearns, still questions inside

We wait, it’s work, but we wait.
We wait, it’s work, but we wait.

  1. As I read this I tried to imagine the beastie boys yelling it. I'm not sure if that was the intention all the way through, but either way i liked it haha

  2. This is rad, quin. Seriously cool lines and phrases that hook together well. I like the part "my soul pounding into my sould" and also "I morphed heartbreak into profound". Cool. Artsy. Deep.
