Rut #4 -- Jacqueline Usterud

I decided to go to a Sri Lankan restaurant in Provo called Banana Leaf. It was indeed an interesting restaurant with good food and an interesting atmosphere. I tried something that sounded completely disgusting, but tasted fantastically good -- a Avocado shake. Although it had the taste and smell of an avocado, this shake was sweet and interestingly creamy. I also tried their Shrimp Nasi Goreng, which was an rice dish with various spices, onion and green peppers, that turned out to be a success. However, I am always a little bit hesitant to eat things with shrimp due to bad experiences, and my stomach did hurt for the next 24 hours after the restaurant visit. Not the best hing in the world, but the food tasted good.
I learned that choosing to go with something that seems odd, and that scares me off a little bit turned out to be good for me. Trying new things, and experiencing new tastes is something I like, even though I tend to go with my usual picks on the menus that I am used to. My husband usually tries to encourage me to try something new, mostly because he needs me to try something new in order for him to do it as well. I think that makes me open-minded and more susceptible to changes.
