Federico Uribe is a really innovative artist, seeing and using everyday objects in an awesomely aesthetic way.  You can check out his entire portfolio here.  (I'm rather fond of his abstract-o section.)  He uses all sorts of stuff, like the above-mentioned mediums, and other things like pennies, dominoes, hangers, shoelaces, etc.
