The artisit appears to have gotten his inspiration from the many frowns he saw around new york. He wantd to see something different, so perhaps he wanted to show these smiles in a new way. To help people think about the issue, which are the trials of the young men in their neighborhood..
I hadn't thought about the combination of portrait with video. The combination is obvious, but I didn't think about the fact that it is a new medium combined out of two.
ReplyDeleteThat is true, I didn't actually think about how it was happening in New York where all the big city people are all just rushing through life and frowning, and using this work as a contrast to NYC life.
ReplyDeleteYou bring up an interesting point that this ad is trying to prove a point by performing the opposite extreme of the problem. It is an interesting way to publicize a common problem.
ReplyDeleteThe combination of portraits and video haven't really been widely used. So I agree, this is very creative. It opens up a new world of emotion. It makes me think of the moving pictures we see a lot in Harry Potter.
