From other people's comments you guys all went to a different museum than me I guess. Suburia. Well I can say it did do a good job capture an era and the look and feel of that era—but than again so does a Facebook photo album. I don't know—maybe I just don't get this sort of art—but I wasn't super impressed. Don't get me wrong, I know there can be art in even simple everyday photos—but I didn't feel this exhibit really did anything for me.
As for the Electronic Media Gallery—creepy stuff! When I came it was showing a close up of some guys face and he was mumbling and hitting himself in the face. Huh? I don't want to be so negative but to me I feel some of this stuff is just people doing random things and pretending its somehow majestic and beautiful and awe inspiring.
Again, there can be art in all sorts of things but I just didn't feel the electronic media gallery or the Suburia exhibit did it for me. Maybe I am too dumb, but the whole time I just kept asking, “huh?”
I thought the electronic media gallery was creepy too! it reminded me of the "modern art" i saw at the tate modern in london. by far the strangest exhibit there was similar to this one. just a room with a video showing, except the video was a naked woman in the woods pouring buckets of blood on her body, then rolling around in feathers.
ReplyDeleteawe inspiring art, or just plain weird?
I know right! I hate this idea that "anything can be art." No, not really. Lets get real art community. Complete meaningless isn't art so lets stop pretending that we see the beauty in a close up of some mumbling guy's face.
