"They have realized the American Dream. They are proud to be home owners and to have achieved material success.'"
I loved how real this photography was. There was nothing pretentious or forced about it. They were snapshots of people in their everyday lives doing ordinary things. From going to a mother-in-law's for Thanksgiving dinner to the neighborhood parade, to selling a home, to playing with Barbies and having the chicken pox, it couldn't get more ordinary. But there is something artistic about the mundane, unexcited routines of these suburban families.
I like the picture with a little girl sitting on her bed on a messy room. "I wanted Christina to learn responsibility for cleaning her room...it didn't work." Reminded me of my own room sometimes.
I also like the simple picture of a family in their kitchen with the following quote: "We're really happy. Our kids are healthy, we eat good food, and we have a really nice home." Food. Shelter. Happiness.
I love the last part that you quoted. Just a decent summary of their lives and how content they were with it.
ReplyDeleteI loved the photos of the families in their homes. One i'm remembering right now is the picture of all the ladies having a tupperware party in the living room!
