Stuck in a Rut: Cameron Pinegar

I loved the Suburbia exhibit. As a whole the idea was creative. I like the simple idea of photographing people in their element. I believe photos that capture everyday situations capture some of the best stories. On top of the creative photographs, the artist also provided quotes that give the essence of the story behind the photo. I love the quotes because they don't explain everything about the photo, but they guide your thoughts and leave space for personal interpretation.

My favorite photos from the exhibit were:

1. The people chilling in front of their garage people watching. I love this photo because it seems like people watching is a common suburban activity and the photo and quote captured true essence of it.

2. The man skimming his pool. How often is the story told in suburbia where a child begs his parents for something and completely neglects the gift after the novelty wears off. It reminded me of many stories from my life.

I don't know where the artist came up with the idea for Suburbia, but perhaps he just has an interest in people and their behaviors. Understanding people and their lifestyles is an underrated form of entertainment.  The author captured the ins and outs of suburban lifestyle in his photos and he provides us with hundreds of suburbia stories.

  1. I know exactly what you mean about the pool. I totally did that.

But I also have to agree with you on the fact that observing others is a really good way to come to understand others. I feel like I got some real insight into the suburban lifestyle.
